YELLOW LINE PRODUCTIONS ANNOUNCES DEBUT MUSICAL PRODUCTION

‘BAKERY HILL – AN AUSTRALIAN REBELLION’

SET FOR APRIL 2021 LIMITED RELEASE

‘When revolutionary diggers and government forces collide, every individual must question what they are prepared to gain and what they are prepared to lose.’

Bakery Hill – An Australian Rebellion is an original dramatic historical adaptation that marks the debut production for Yellow Line Productions. This production will be presented for a limited 5 show season from April 15 – April 17, 2021 at the Bryan Brown Theatre & Function Centre, Bankstown, NSW.

Set in 1854 Australia, the story explores hope and despair, right and wrong, love and loss, risk and reward and where real value truly lies.

With bold ensemble storytelling, an emotive original score and cultural and gender representation combined, this world premiere musical gives a voice to the voiceless and provides a fresh and honest retelling of the events surrounding the Eureka Rebellion.

This musical uniquely showcases the sheer raw and unpolished humanity of the 1800’s goldfields, and the intricacies of a distinctive side of the Eureka story. Incredible attention to detail, emotion-filled moments, newly illuminated character stories culminates in a unique retelling of a classic Australian story.

Director Benjamin Roorda says, “I am extremely excited to direct Bakery Hill – An Australian Rebellion. This is an incredible and moving story and I, along with the cast and production team, are passionately working on bringing this new tale to life. I’m excited to challenge people; from the cast to audience, and challenge preconceived notions of what theatre can be and how it can be created and presented.”

The cast includes talent from both community and professional backgrounds, joining together to share stories of the voiceless who experienced the Eureka Stockade in 1854. In Bakery Hill – An Australian Rebellion there are no characters, just people.

Written by Father and Son duo Russell and James Tredinnick, who also stand as co-founders of Yellow Line Productions, Bakery Hill – An Australian Rebellion invites audiences to relive history in this dramatic and personal retelling of the people caught in the maelstrom of one of the most influential events in Australia’s modern history.
